Volvo Adds Skype for Business: 90s Series

Volvo recently announced that they have integrated Skype for Business directly into the dashboard of their high end 90 Series vehicles.  This allows drivers to be able to join conference calls with ease, without having to fumble for your phone while you are on the go. One of the greatest selling points of Skype for Business is the ability to work from anywhere, and Volvo is recognizing this capability and integrating it directly into their vehicles.  This turns your car into a mobile office where you can join a meeting, take and make work calls, and interact with your co-workers on the go. “We see a future where flexible in-car productivity tools will enable people to reduce time spent in the office,” said Anders Tylman-Mikiewicz, Volvo’s VP of consumer connectivity services.

Many users currently join their Skype Meetings on the road using the Skype for Business mobile application and can Bluetooth to their car audio system.  This level of integration eliminates the phone and simplifies the interface for a car dashboard.

This is a huge win for Microsoft and Skype for Business, and we look forward to seeing what other car companies will follow suit in integrating Microsoft into their cars.
