Unlimited OneDrive Storage for Office 365

Announcement from Microsoft

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced it was delivering unlimited OneDrive storage for Office 365 subscribers. Unlimited OneDrive storage is currently available for Home, Personal, and University subscription plans. For business and enterprise subscriptions, unlimited storage will be coming in 2015. This announcement comes on the heels of their April 2014 announcement where OneDrive for Business storage increased from 25GB to 1TB per user.

With tight integration among Office 365 web, desktop, and mobile apps, now is the time to start migrating storage from your legacy file servers to cloud storage. Microsoft states in their announcement that “unlimited storage is just one small part of our broader promise to deliver a single experience across work and life that helps people store, sync, share, and collaborate on all the files that are important to them, all while meeting the security and compliance needs of even the most stringent organizations”.

The Benefits of Office 365 Continues to Grow

This move is just another reason, among many, to embrace the Microsoft Cloud ecosystem. It will be interesting to see if Google, Dropbox, and other cloud storage providers follow suit. One thing is clear – Microsoft is clearly focused on building its Cloud Computing offerings.
